"As Sherrie unveiled each new song during the evening one could not wait to hear the next one. Sherrie’s beautiful melodic voice and her wonderful arrangements and interpretations gave the whole evening a magical spin."
-Richard Colombo, in a review of Sherrie's October 30, 2016 concert at Artichoke Music
KEEPER OF THE SONGS (©2016) is an album of song arrangements, guitar and vocals by SHERRIE WOLF. It was produced and engineered at Medicine Whistle Studio by Dan Rhiger. Thanks to many musicians for accompaniment. Voice and mouth trumpet by my daughter Sarah Wolf; bass, banjo, mandolin and guitar by Dan Rhiger; bass by Ben Rhiger; electric guitar by Adrian Martin; harmonica and clarinet by John Richter; ukulele and guitar by Richard Colombo; and cello by Tim Scott.
The title song, "Keeper of the Songs," is based on a traditional Appalachian ballad, Cold Mountain, which recalls the awakening from a dream. My brother Daryl was always the "keeper of the songs." His vast pop record collection defined our youth growing up in the 60s and 70s. Daryl died in 1992 of AIDS.
SHERRIE WOLF, born and raised in Portland, has been performing her songs and unique interpretations of folk and popular standards through out Oregon, on stages such as Lake Theater Cafe in Lake Oswego, Cannon Beach city park, Hoffman Art Center in Manzanita, Portland Folk Society, Portland Art Museum, Laura Russo Gallery and Jeffrey Thomas Gallery. Sherrie is prominently known nationally as a painter and visual artist. Her long interest in voice and guitar lead her to songwriting and performing after her daughter Sarah left home for college. Her music passion began as a teen with Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan and Laura Nyro. It has been revived in recent years.
